The Story of Sooper

Sooper Ristorante is positioned in the same spot where Mimmos Watermeyer served residents for many years and has become somewhat of a landmark in the area as the local Italian restaurant and take away shop.

Deciding to change the restaurant after it had been in existence for so many years was not an easy decision, and it took a lot of thought and careful planning.

The owner, Marc Chryssanthou, has over 15 years’ experience in the restaurant industry having successfully owned and managed his own Steakhouse in the East of Pretoria, after spending many years in the UK working for a famous Italian Chef in a well-known Italian restaurant group. Vicky, Marc’s better half has trained in the UK in deli produce and has a passion for great quality and excellence in service.

Their vision was to take the existing essence of the restaurant – good quality food and trusted friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere – and amplify it to the next level.

They made this vision come to life with a team of experienced professionals – from the Architects who designed the space to the Chef who was involved in every intricate detail of the menu items and of course their own loyal staff who have been with this team for years.

We have taken everything our customers loved about the original place – food, staff, service – and added something Sooper to it! Bringing the flair of all our experience to the South African market.
